Sarah Zimmer is an artist and educator living in Michigan. She works with photography, installation, and multimedia. As part of her process, Zimmer often actively engages in adjacent fields—conducting research, speaking at conferences, and working in specific environments or institutions of interest. While primarily photographic, her work often includes performative acts and references the institutional aesthetic- or regional style from which it came. Sarah has shown her work nationally and internationally in galleries, museums, and fairs, including at the Detroit Museum of Contemporary Photography, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Chicago Center for Photography, and Galleria La Corte in Florence, Italy. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College Chicago, a Post Baccalaureate in Sculpture from Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy, and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
